# Projects

A Project is the home for an application's Cloud resources. It belongs to one Account and groups the services, identities, and usage associated with that application.

## Why use Projects?

Applications need a clear place for their resources and permissions. A Project gives you that boundary, so you can enable services and inspect usage for one application at a time. Your Account remains the tenant and billing owner.

## What you can do

- Create a Project and use its ID when calling Cloud APIs or the CLI.
- Enable the services the application needs through Service Usage.
- Manage access to its resources through IAM policies.
- Register OAuth clients and inspect service usage attributed to the Project.

## How it fits together

Start with a Project, enable an available service, then create resources within it. A Build, Sandbox, or Database belongs to that Project. Use separate Projects when applications need separate resource and access boundaries.

## Use Projects

Read the [CLI reference](/docs/project/reference/cli) for commands or the [API reference](/docs/project/reference/api) for resources, request fields, and responses.
